History says that mermaids are half humans and half fish. People get a shock if they see a mermaid on land. This girl has ability to stay on land as well. An 8 year old girl recently stunned all doctors of USA. Shiloh Pepin is popularly known as mermaid girl. This girl is a miracle child because she was born without many internal organs. She had no bladder, intestine, rectum and kidney. Her legs were fused together and were difficult to separate. Doctors carried out 150 surgeries on her body to transplant her body parts. Mermaid girl was born in Kennebunkport of Maine.

She is the fourth person in the world, who suffered congenital condition called Sirenomelia. Sirenomelia is also called as mermaid syndrome. In this syndrome both legs of the baby fuse together when baby is in mother’s womb. Most babies born with this syndrome die at an early stage, but it was miracle to see Shiloh still surviving? Reason behind such condition is still unknown, but doctors feel that this condition occurs because of weak circulatory system. Circulatory system of a baby does not develop before birth that is why some babies are born with weak internal organs. Mermaid girl had her first kidney transplant when she was 2 years old. Second transplant was carried out on august in next year. Other operations were also carried out on her to reconstruct her circulatory system. She goes to the bathroom in bags attached to her. Her parents change her bags once a day.

Mermaid girl gathered attention because of her fused legs and multiple surgeries. She loves ballet classes and wishes to participate in dance recitals. Mermaid girl knows about her medical condition, and she also knew that a kidney operation was carried out on her at age of 2. She loves to stay with her family. Shiloh loves to eat egg biscuits along with sausage for breakfast. Even though she is a happy little girl, she is a sick girl. Doctors who studied her medical condition felt that her legs were difficult to separate.

Dr. Matthew Hand of Barbara Bush children hospital said that Shiloh’s legs can be separated but Shiloh refused to get operated. She feels that her legs made her unique and different from other children. Before Shiloh was born her mother Leslie gave birth to a dead child. When they came to know about Shiloh’s birth they were happy, but ultra scan report revealed shocking news that baby’s legs were not moving. Her doctor suggested her to abort operation but she was courageous to give birth to her baby.
